This winter I enrolled at the Greenfield branch of the Fred Astaire Dance Studio. A good friend of mine has been in the Fred Astaire program for many years and has always spoken highly of it. Well, I finally tried it myself. What a wonderful surprise!

I am totally blind and seventy-four years old. I feared that the personnel at the studio would refuse to instruct me or would be reluctant to do so. The very opposite was the case. Vanina and her staff accepted me with open arms. I have received excellent instruction. I have been getting good exercise and having great fun. The instruction I have encountered is first-rate and far beyond my expectations. It is always a thrilling experience to deal with persons who love what they are doing: persons who are enthusiastic, courteous and, in my case, kind and caring.

I hope my relation with Vanina and her staff will continue for a long time. When it terminates, however, I will be in possession of fabulous memories and considerable skill in ballroom dancing.

In early January of this year Michelle mentioned how nice it would be to learn how to dance for her son's wedding in June. Looking online at the Fred Astaire website we found out that a new studio was opening in Greenfield , close to our home in Oak Creek . We booked our introductory lesson which happened to be the first lesson on the first day the studio was open! We also went to the practice party that Friday - the first one for the studio - and we were the only couple!

We've progressed in our dancing many times faster than we ever imagined and have successfully competed in our first competition. We have performed routines choreographed specifically for us that have challenged us and have been exceptionally fun. But maybe the most important thing is we have gained a new family in the Greenfield Fred Astaire staff - they show genuine care and respect for their students and make the experience educational and enjoyable.

We could not imagine our lives without our new passion - our sincerest thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Soppa and the entire Greenfield staff. We love you all!
